May 2010

This month we had another opportunity to visit the Texas family and enjoy their company.  Michelle had a girls weekend planned and with David's schooling it was a good chance for us to spend more time with the kids.  We had a great time and even got to spend a little time with David and Michelle.  It was a fun visit that went by way too fast!!

I had to try to upload a video to the blog and it looks like it worked.  I guess that means we will have to upload more in the future.

We started the visit off with a fun trip to the Dallas Aquarium.
Memor, Audrey and Joshua in front of the waterfall at the aquarium.
Joshua really like the sword fish that kept swimming by.
Bahama Buck's is a favorite place and Audrey loves tricking people into trying the "pickle juice" flavor.  It is the worst be we all try it anyway just for Audrey.
The weekend we were there Home Depot had their craft time for kids.  They were able to build little pot holder for Mom for Mother's Day.  They were a big success!!
No visit is complete without a visit to the Bass Pro Shop.  Everyone loves it!  We were able to meet up with the cousins there as well. Fun time.
The big fish tanks are always fun to look at.
The settings almost look real and with the fish and turtles you feel like you are in the great outdoors.
Audrey and Joshua really like playing on their swing set.  The weather was not too hot so they were able to really enjoy it.

We were blessed again this year to be able to enjoy the company of relatives from Denmark.  The Hoybjerg Reunion happened when we found out that Aunt Jytte was coming to visit the family in LA again.  Johs and Regis were gracious enoough to open their home to the rest of us and we had a wonderful meal and visit with family again.  These events are way to far apart but it makes them that much sweeter when they happen.

Andrea, Regis, Nathan and Nicholas enjoying a reunion.
Alli and Aunt Jytte.

Aunt Jytte knitted a bunch of socks so everyone got a pair.  A very sweet labor of love.
Lorelle, George, Liz and Jytte talking about the knitting.
Of course the pool had to be tried out so Nathan, Nicholas, Jason and Matt were in first.
Liz, Jytte, Laura and Marianne enjoyed time together.
John and Val with Aunt Jytte
Kristin, Alli and George.

Jason wanted to squirt everyone that walked by the pool.  Matt probably was encouraging that.
Andrea, Regis and Marianne enjoyed more time together as well.
Karen and her family also made it.  Fun reunion.
Laura, Marianne, Johs and Karen.  Too much fun!!

Tom and Liz catch up on things with Johs.

Every looking at the memory picture books that Marianne made for everyone.  They were a big hit. The book covered photos from when the family first came to America in 1951 until they moved into the home in Hayward.  It was a great collection of pictures and memories.
Marianne and Jytte spending time together.
Johs and Regis put on a great spread and everyone enjoyed the eating and socializing.
No celebration is complete without a cake!  Since this was a Danish celebration we had to have the great mazipan cake!  They are always delicious.

The girls had to visit Rodeo Dr. while we were in the area.
Kristin found this cool art exhibit of street lamp posts.

All of the local kids found a way to meet up with Marianne on Mother's Day and spend a little time with her.  She is a great wife, mother and grandmother who gives so much to us all.

April 2010

Easter is always a fun family time with egg hunts and games for the young and old(er) alike.  The weather threatened to rain but it held long enough for the outdoor hunt for the two grandkids that were around which is always fun.

Nathan and Jason couldn't wait to hit the road and start looking for eggs.
The older the child the harder it is to find the eggs.  "Hot and cold" usually helps everyone.
Some of the "eggs" are sport eggs and some are other novel things.  They are all fun.
Nathan had the joy of finding the "big golden egg" this year and boy was he eggcited!!
Counting up the loot and seeing what you got is always a fun mess.
Nathan actually got a gold egg.  I hope the giant from Jack and the Bean Stock doesn't come looking for it!
Memor has to have new toys for the kids so this was the new teeter tooter.
We have to play games at Easter and here is Matt helping Jason to play one of the games.
This year singing was a requirement for the groups looking to win Easter goodies.  Nathan gets to lead this one.
Jason gets to lead the singing on this team.

April is also Doctor Appreciation Day and Marianne is alway so good at making everyone feel special.  This year they were all Oscar award winners for their service to the patients!  Great group of health providers.

Tilder Park became a tempting attration with some great weather so off we went.  This was our first trip there and the boys really enjoyed the outing.

Nathan and Jason are waiting for the train to arrive for our trip through the redwoods.

All aboard!!

Chugging through the trees on a beautiful sunny day.

After the train ride we had to go to the old carousel and enjoy a ride or two there.

Then it was off to the animal farm to see what was there.  Moooooooooooooo!
Quack, Honk, and all the other sounds!
Nathan making sure the stem is long enough to keep his distance.
Of course Jason has to follow what Nathan did and fee the goats.
The boys are climbers and enjoyed the fence line.
How high can you climb
Pair on the fence.
One more thing to climb on and in.
Helping or hindering?  Good questions
Of course after the carousel and the farm animals we had to go back and do one more train ride!!
The boys wanted to ride in the boxcar instead in the open car.  Another fun loop.

The Jarman family moved to Utah many years ago from Pleasanton.  We have enjoyed visits with various family members over the years but this time Laura and Darryl and the whole family came to visit.  I was great to see them all again.

Who can really do this hoop/rope game.

This month Tom came to hold a fireside with our HP quorum.  He and Liz enjoyed the visit back to Pleasanton and we enjoyed having them here as well.  It was a great meeting and visit.

The quorum meeting had a dinner and then the meeting.  It was a great night together.
